Hello from the AHR Expo in Chicago!
Right now, I’m at the AHR Expo in downtown Chicago at McCormick Place. There’s a lot happening in HVAC, so I came here to learn what’s new so I can be a better marketer for our HVAC clients and home service businesses. While I’m here, I wanted to share three ways you can use digital marketing at your trade shows or conferences to get in front of your ideal customers.
#1) Run Facebook Ads Targeted At People In The Location Of The Conference, Trade Show, or Expo
If you’re a home repair contractor, home service business, or HVAC company, and you want to get in front of people who are attending a home and garden show, but you’re not going to be there and exhibit, one thing you can do is use Facebook advertising. With Facebook ads, you can target people whose device (like their smart phone) is in the convention center. Right now, there’s 60,000 people from the HVAC industry at this AHR event. You can get in front of them with Location Targeting Advertisements. This can be a great way to promote your booth. If you do have a booth, invite people. Boost photos of your booth and tell them to come on by for whatever offer you have. Even if you’re not there, you can still run ads to people, target them, push them to a landing page, and build custom audiences that you continue to use in other marketing.
#2) Run Google Adwords Targeting Searches Related To The Event
Another way you can use digital marketing with your trade show and conference strategy is to run search ads with Google AdWords for people who are searching for the name of the conference. If they’re looking for things like registration info, places to park, or places to stay during the show, you can run ads to them and direct them to landing pages that are relevant to your offer. A lot of times, it’s really inexpensive to target those keywords, because not a lot of other people are doing it.
#3) Interact With Social Media Posts With The Conference Hashtag
In Chicago at the AHR Expo, the world’s largest HVAC conference with nearly 60,000 in attendance, networking with clients and learning about how to help our HVAC and home service clients get even better results. The HVAC industry is booming worldwide with the US leading the pack. Lots of exciting developments with energy efficiency, smart devices, and artificial intelligence. The third thing that you can do is interact with people who are posting using the hashtags on social media. Whether it’s on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, a lot of these conferences have hashtags where people are posting photos and videos. That can be another way just to network with people online. Of course, meeting people in person is the greatest benefit of doing a trade show or a conference. Digital marketing can just be another way to complement that.
