Shooting professional-looking video doesn’t have to be as difficult and expensive as you might think. With today’s technology being as advanced as it is, you can shoot high quality video using the phone in your pocket! Recently, Jack Jostes was featured in a MarketingBitz blog post on how to create great video for marketing campaigns.
Here are Jack’s Dos and Don’ts for DIY video:
DO: Use a tripod if possible to avoid shaky camera syndrome.
Whenever possible, use a tripod when recording your videos. This simple tip will increase the professionalism of your video tenfold, and help prevent viewers from getting sick. If you’re filming with your smartphone, consider getting a smartphone tripod mount from Amazon. If you’re not using a tripod, hold your elbows in and do your best to be steady.
DON’T: Hold your camera or phone vertically. Always hold the camera/phone in landscape mode.
Unless you’re filming a video that will only be used on Instagram or other mobile newsfeeds, it’s best to shoot your videos in landscape mode instead of portrait mode. This way, if people view your video on a desktop – they can expand it to full width without having that awkward vertical stripe down the video that happens when you hold your phone camera vertically.
