Welcome to the 74 Feature of Friday’s Informal Facebook Films!

Oh, hi!  Welcome to the 74h feature of Friday’s Informal Facebook Films! Did you know that R.L. Stine’s show, Goosebumps, had 74 episodes back in the day? That was one of my favorite shows.

Is Your Mobile Device Safe From Hackers?

Recent studies by security software firm Bit9 show that from the 650,000 apps in Google Play an estimated 100,000 Android apps collected personal information that could present security threats for users.

One way hackers are able to get away with this is by taking advantage of the mobile phone’s small screen interface to better mask unsecure links and pages, or prompt users to download phony files.

This poses a challenge for both individuals and enterprises to keep data secure in a mobile market expected to triple in size by 2015.

What can you do to protect yourself from cybercriminals? Fueled, a New York based app company- suggests brands to invest money on securing a solid platform rather than multiple ones, and warns us consumers against entering sensitive data into devices over unsecured Wi-Fi networks, as well as saving passwords in text messages or notes.

Nametrix App Predicts Your Baby’s Career

Have you already decided which Ivy League school your baby will become a prestigious member of?

Like every loving tiger parent-to-be, before you start saving up for that college fund, you might want to make sure the name you give your baby will prepare it for the career of your dreams!

Nametrix: Doctor or Dancer? App collects data from the census, Wikipedia and a U.S. campaign contribution database to provide you with a list of the most popular baby names according to occupation, peak year, and location, and share it with friends and family for future profession related gifts.

Is readying your baby with the most popular name for rocket scientists in the 70’s important to you? Give us your feedback!

PRO TIP: Use Geographic Modifiers in your Page Title Tags, Body Content, and Footer

This week’s Pro Tip will help people find your website.

When you’re writing the text for your website, remember to use geographic modifiers along with your keywords. A geographic modifier – such as Boulder, CO, Denver, CO, or whatever area you service – should be included at least three times on each page.

A common mistake is for people to title their pages “About”… but no one is searching for about… they’re searching for what they want… in Boulder.

Three Places you Should include Geographic Modifiers on your Website:

1) The Page Title Tage
2) The content on each of your pages
3) Your footer. Make sure you have your address in the footer!

Now, if this sounds too nerdy for you to handle, just remember that we at Ramblin Jackson really enjoy this sort of thing and would love to help you. We make internet marketing fun… in Boulder, Denver, Lyons, and the entire Front Range of Colorado!
